The Charter Oak Cultural Center in downtown Hartford initiated last summer a new program to provide fresh produce to the needy in Hartford. Together with Beat Of The Street, B.O.T.S., (a newspaper that is written by people who are or were homeless and their allies,) they have a creative action for justice of putting large pots of organic vegetables around downtown Hartford where those who need food could supplement their meals with fresh produce. These beautiful pots were painted by local artists and managed by men and women who were or are homeless, who have been trained and hired to tend the pots. The project, known as B.O.T.S. POTS, is underway for this coming summer season and they are looking for people and organizations to sponsor a pot in whole ($500) or part.
If this is of interest to you, bring cash or a check in any amount large or small made out to St Mary's Church with "BOTS Pots" on the Memo line. You can bring the check to Deacon Art's Bible study on Wednesday, May 22nd or contact Mary Blume at 860-651-8302 or [email protected], We would like to turn in the money no later than May 31st to get the pot up and growing.
