Life Teen Service Opportunity: visit to Metro Ministries and Covenant House in New York City; Saturday April 5th, 2014 (6 AM – 10:30 PM) Metro Ministries at 17 Menahan Street in Brooklyn, NY
Metro Ministries is a Christian, non-profit organization dedicated to serving inner-city children throughout NYC and other urban centers around the world. For almost 30 years, Founder and Senior Pastor Bill Wilson has worked to rescue hurting children and offer a message of salvation and love that encourages them to stay in school and away from gangs and other destructive or criminal behaviors so common in inner-city environments. St. Mary’s youth, in conjunction with St. Ann’s youth, will be helping out during the children’s session from 9 AM to 1 PM. St. John the Baptist Church (St. Pio National Shrine)
We will spend some time at Manhattan Mall before attending mass at St. John the Baptist Church (St. Pio National Shrine) Covenant House at 460 West 41st Street New York, NY
Covenant House has “houses” in 22 cities throughout the United States, Canada, and Latin America. And inside each of these facilities are all the love, care, and vital resources needed to help a young person break away forever from a life on the streets. The cost of this mission trip is $90. Youth should bring a bag lunch and any spending money for shopping/fast food dinner. Please RSVP by Friday March 28th to jgould@stannavonct.org and give a check for $90 to Jeannie Carpenter.
