It is with sadness that I report to you the death of our beloved former deacon and past principal of St. Mary’s School, Joseph Gabriele. Deacon Gabriele spent most of his life in the Simsbury area where he taught in the public school system and held administrative posts before becoming the principal of St. Mary’s School in his retirement years. He was one of the first deacons ordained for the Archdiocese of Hartford, eventually headed up the deacon program of the Archdiocese, and served as a deacon at St. Mary’s Church for many years, where he was known for his dynamic preaching and his love and concern for others. In June, 2013, Father Matera hosted a parish retreat comprised of parishioners from all committees throughout the parish. One of the outcomes of this parish retreat was that a strategic space plan needed to be developed for both the school and the parish. The Facilities Working Group (FWG) was created to start working on this long-term plan. Click the title to read more information about the proposed Campus Connection Plan.
The Carnival committee wishes to thank all the volunteers who gave their time and talents in making our 2015 Carnival a success. And special thanks to our sponsors! Click for PHOTOS from our 36th annual carnival!
The ballots have now been counted, and we are pleased to announce that Sybille Guibert and Dianne Mead have been elected to the Parish Council. We congratulate them, and we thank all who were so willing to run for election. Please join us on June 7th, after the 9:30 AM Mass in the Parish Center, to meet the members of the Parish Council.
