As stated in the council by-laws, the Parish Council is an advisory panel that serves to help stimulate the many programs within the parish and to serve as a consultative body for the Pastor. The goals include:
Priorities and Planning -- to prayerfully discern the future needs of the parish and establish goals and objectives
Implementation -- promote and ensure parish programs and activities
Involvement -- fostering fruitful collaboration among the numerous ministries, groups and organizations within the parish and to utilize in the most inclusive manner the gifts and talents of parishioners
Shared Ideas and Decision-making -- provide opportunities for constructive dialogue within the parish
The Parish Council meets on the second Wednesday of the month (except in summer) and consists of 13 parishioners in addition to the clergy. There are 5 members at-large, the chairperson from each of our standing committees, two youth members and a representative/liaison from the Finance Committee and the St. Mary's School Board.
